Our CEO Davida Siwisa James created The High Desert Book Festival in 2016 as a way to add to the cultural and literary awareness of the Mojave High Desert Community. We are proud, in this our fourth year, to be co-sponsored by Hesperia Recreation and Park District… and the City of Hesperia.
Our first 2016 festival was held as part of the City of Victorville’s Annual Fall Festival on Civic Drive on October 1, It was our honor to gain the city’s support. They gave us a large dedicated area and it was a rousing success.
In 2017, we were welcomed back and had accepted registration from authors and booked presenters for participation in the same Victorville Fall Festival. Unfortunately, circumstances caused us to cancel.
Our 2018 High Desert Book Festival was a much smaller event, held at the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce. Again, a successful event. But we are delighted to once again be back in the great outdoors. Across the country, book festivals have their venues inside ballrooms and conference centers, as well as the more traditional outdoor setting. We are pleased to have this wonderful venue with grassy areas, an amphitheater, cement walkways and fountains.
